From a solo home based business in 1990, "Charlottetown Massage Therapy" has expanded to the Charlottetown Area Health Centre in downtown Charlottetown. The clinic includes 4 treatment rooms, an Infra red Sauna facility and the resources of 8 Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs), creating the most experienced group of therapists on the Island.

  • Marilyn Sparling O.T., R.M.T.

    Marilyn initially graduated as an Occupational Therapist from the University of Alberta's School of Rehabilitation Medicine and later transitioned to become a massage therapist. Her Therapeutic approach includes a pragmatic look at the person's needs and their goals. Her wholistic approach uses various techniques including in-depth MyoFascial work, Soft Tissue Release, Deep Tissue or relaxing Swedish Massage, and Reflexology. A client's understanding of body mechanics in daily activities is an important aspect of treatment. An educational component regarding ergonomic causative factors is often discussed, with remedial exercises offered to assist in achieving the desired goals. Marilyn has a personal interest in wellness strategies involving food, exercise and healing as found in traditions from both Asian and East Indian traditions. As a founding member of the PEI Massage Therapy Association (PEIMTA), Marilyn continues to serve on the board and is currently involved with the initiative to gain Regulation for Massage Therapy as a Health Care Profession on the Island. Marilyn has three lovely daughters, three grandchildren, and lives with her "good" husband in Mermaid, PEI.
  • Christine Bell B.A., B.Ed, R.M.T.

    Throughout her multi faceted career, Christine's focus has remained consistent over the past seventeen years - being a guiding hand to health and wellness for her clients. This began in 1996 when she graduated from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Ontario. An interest in rehabilitation and stress management has led to various special training courses; highlights include structural integration, myofascial release, and a focus in Stott’s Pilates rehabilitation. Another branch of her healthcare practice is providing creative and caring support for women during pregnancy.
  • Mary Phalen R.M.T.

    Mary has worked at Charlottetown Massage Therapy since graduating from Northumberland College in Halifax N.S. with a diploma in Massage Therapy in 2000. She grew up in Charlottetown, PEI and has also raised her daughter here. Mary specializes in deep tissue massage. She also has extensive training in and special equipment for Prenatal Massage which was born out of her work as a birth doula. She has training in Advanced Trigger Point Therapy and Suikodo (a gentle technique using neuro-muscular stimulation to facilitate changes in soft and boney tissue). Mary has served as the Registrar of the Massage Therapy Association of Prince Edward Island. Mary practices yoga an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and has recently joined the local Roller Derby league.
  • Jenn White B.A., R.M.T.

    Jennifer received her massage therapy training at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax before graduating in 2005 and returning home to her beloved Prince Edward Island. Jennifer incorporates elements of Swedish massage, Myofascial and Trigger Point release, holding a firm belief in massage therapy as a valuable tool in treating injuries, pain management, coping with occupational stress and improving overall wellbeing! In recent years Jennifer has received additional training in Prenatal Massage, Reiki II and is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. Jennifer is the current president of the PEI Massage Therapy Association also working on her Masters of Arts in Island Studies at UPEI
  • Kim Landry B.Sc, P.B.H.E. R.M.T.

    Kim Landry graduated in 2005 from the reputable Sutherland Chan School of Massage Therapy in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education from Queen's University and worked as a personal trainer. Throughout her career as a massage therapist, Kim has specialized in sports massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy. She is also on the board of the PEI Massage Therapist Association. Kim's treatments are very thorough and client centered. Her treatments include a thorough assessment, various massage techniques and self care instructions. When not massaging , Kim is a stay-at-home mom to her 3 beautiful, busy boys, and an avid runner.
  • Bernie Plourde B.A., R.M.T. (Service bilingue disponible)

    Bernie Plourde, RMT with training and certificates in seating and postural assessments for people with disabilities, graduated from a 2200 hr program in Halifax NS at the respected Northumberland College of Massage Therapy in 2004. Bernie believes in a practice that is patient centred using deep tissue massage (Sports), Swedish techniques (relaxation), and Trigger Point Release (pain relief). Bernie is also trained in Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) through the Dr. Vodder School. He specializes in hands-on clinical assessments to understand the mechanism of injuries in order to properly treat imbalances in the body. Bernie also believes in patient education and proper home care as key components to a massage therapy session. When not massaging he is a busy father of two young boys and is Manager of the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market Cooperative and serves on the Provincial Board of the ALS Society and National ALS Council.
  • Tanya Vellieux R.M.T.

    Tanya Veilleux is a graduate of the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in Fredericton, NB. Tanya believes in being very client focused, and tailoring the treatment to every client's individual needs. Some of the techniques she uses in addition to Swedish Massage are Myofascial release, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and reflexology. Tanya also loves the use of Hot Hydro and Hot Stones to further relax and soften the muscle tissue. She believes very strongly in home care exercises and how they can help further the positive impact of massage therapy. She also has her level 1 craniosacral therapy and a canine animal massage diploma. She deals with animals post surgery and dogs that experience anxiety or have been abused. Tanya enjoys the outdoors loves the Ocean and Kayaking with her spouse and little Chihuahua.
  • Christy Richardson R.M.T.

    Christy graduated on the Dean's List from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Newmarket, ON. Upon her graduation in 2001, she returned to her hometown of Sydney, NS to begin her career. She offers hot stone , lymphatic drainage, pregnancy, relaxation and deep tissue therapeutic treatments. Christy's first love is sports, coaching soccer,basketball and softball at her local highschool for the past 16 years and continues to play hockey and softball herself. She has helped a wide range of athletes prepare for their gameday with a sports massage, treated any injuries leading up to the event from training and in their recovery from it as well. She is moving to PEI to be with her partner and their golden retriever puppy. Christy is excited to become involved in her new community!!
